As the new year begins, diners in the Northern Virginia area are looking forward to several new restaurants that promise to arrive. Here are some of the most anticipated restaurant openings coming to the region in 2024.

Alexandria

Atlas Brew Works

Atlas Brew Works in Alexandria is hoping for a late spring opening in the Carlyle Crossing mixed-use development. This will be the third location for the brewery and taproom that has two other outposts in DC. On top of a brewery, taproom, and ample indoor-outdoor seating, guests will enjoy Andy’s Pizza, which has collected accolades across the region. Regulars will find comfort in the brewery’s six core beers, including Silent Neighbor, which recently won a gold medal at the 2023 World Beer Cup, in addition to special limited releases brewed in and only available at its Alexandria location. 2429 Mandeville Ln., Alexandria

Ben’Yays

A new restaurant called Ben’Yays will open in the space previously occupied by Lori’s Table. The dining spot has 24 seats, and more details are to come. Stay tuned for another new venture in Old Town. 1028 King St., Alexandria

Founding Farmers Alexandria

The newest outpost of the popular DMV restaurant chain will arrive in late summer in the Oakville Triangle development. Guests can enjoy a 9,200-foot full-service restaurant and bar with a large patio, serving enticing offerings for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Pupatella

Expected this spring, Pupatella’s Alexandria location will feature the same great menu that has won the hearts and stomachs of pizza aficionados across the region. Look forward to tempting appetizers, salads, and a slew of craveworthy pies. 700 Slaters Ln., Alexandria

Tatte Bakery & Cafe

Opening January 24 in Old Town, Boston-based Tatte will bring tempting baked goods, coffee concoctions, salads, and sandwiches. The chain has recently expanded to Reston, and now Alexandrians can sample their popular menu as well. 515 King St., Alexandria

Mystic BBQ & Grill

In the spot where Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster BBQ recently closed, Mystic BBQ & Grill has applied to re-open. Owners confirm that other than a name change, the restaurant will stay the same, serving classic barbecue cuisine like brisket, pork, and chicken with all the fixin’s, but will add favorites like burgers, sandwiches, she-crab soup, and shrimp with grits. Immigrant Food Ballston

Immigrant Food, the gastro-advocacy restaurant group from Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree Téa Ivanovic and global policy expert Peter Schechter, is set to open in Ballston in May or June. The 3,200-square-foot restaurant will occupy the former Zoe’s Kitchen space and will feature international cuisine like dim sum, Mediterranean lamb skewers, Belgian fries, Japanese meatballs, and Filipino fried chicken. Honey Pig Korean BBQ

Ephesus Cafe

Though there have been delays, the team at the new Ephesus Cafe says they hope to be open by February. Aldie

Lark Brewing Co.

Visitors will soon savor exceptional brews at this brand-new brewery in Aldie. The company says it hopes to open in mid-February for a soft opening with a grand opening in March. Rush Bowls

Rush Bowls will offer healthy, delicious options, with organic granola, fruits and vegetables, and honey in its upcoming new location in Brambleton. Experience over 25 fruit bowls and smoothies. The famous chili will come to Dulles International Airport in August 2024. The acclaimed Ben’s Chili Bowl will open an outpost at IAD later this year, so travelers will get to sample its renowned housemade chili con carne and half-smokes. Cinnaholic Gourmet Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon roll fans rejoice: The new Cinnaholic Gourmet Cinnamon Rolls shop is inching toward an opening day. The company anticipates an opening in late January or early February. Soon guests can indulge in decadent, customized cinnamon rolls with more than 20 unique frosting flavors, as well as brownies, cookies, and other sweet treats. Wiseguy Pizza

Pizza by the slice is harder to find than you’d think, but Herndon will soon have a new by-the-slice pizza shop next to Chipotle on Elden Street. Mezeh Mediterranean Grill

McLean

Neutral Ground Bar + Kitchen

Led by celebrity chef David Guas of Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery, this new full-service restaurant is slated to open in April. Taco Bamba

Vienna

Yellow Diner

A new modern American restaurant called the Yellow Diner is slated to open in late February. It’s the brainchild of the Pagonis family, owners of the celebrated Tysons-area Greek restaurant Nostos, and run by their son Emanuel. The diner will feature American classics, including old school diner foods like Rueben sandwiches, French toast, pancakes, eggs Benedict, and meatloaf. Pupatella

Pupatella has racked up plenty of awards for its outstanding Neapolitan pizza, and a Chantilly location opened on Tuesday, January 9, as the ninth location in the region. Fairfax

Coyote Grill

There’s a new Coyote Grill in town. The Fairfax restaurant reopened withnew ownership and a new, more upscale concept. Stop in for elevated South American cuisine in a sophisticated setting.
