Why we love this recipe

Nothing says summer like juicy peaches baked in gooey sauce under crisp topping with vanilla ice cream. If that doesn't hook you, here's a bunch of other reasons to love this recipe.

  • easy - Peach crisp is very forgiving, so it's well-suited for beginner bakers.
  • quick - 10-minute assembly with a 20-minute bake time.
  • equipment options - Includes instructions for oven method and air fryer peach crisp.
  • impressive - Wow your friends and family with this easy dessert.
  • seasonality - Great way to use fresh peaches during peach season.
  • customizable - Use frozen peaches, canned peaches, or other fruit varieties for this recipe.
  • size - Make individual peach crisp for two or scale up for a crowd.

Ingredient notes

  • peaches - When baked, fresh peaches become tender and super juicy with fruity aroma, all of which makes peach crisp so delectable.
  • butter - Melted butter not only helps bind the topping, but also helps create a delicious and crisp golden texture when baked.
  • oats - Rolled oats create a crispy and hearty topping along with a nutty flavor that pairs well with the peaches.
  • oat flour - Made from ground oats. This nutritious alternative to regular flour adds a nutty flavor and wholesome texture to the topping. It also makes this peach crisp gluten-free.
  • brown sugar - Brown sugar adds sweetness and a caramel flavor to this dessert. It also helps the sauce develop a gooey texture.
  • maple syrup - This adds natural sweetness with notes of caramel to the peach filling.
  • cinnamon - This warm spice complements the peaches, lending a comforting aroma and flavor.
  • corn starch - This pantry ingredient helps thicken the peach juices during baking, creating a cohesive filling with a silky texture.
  • lemon juice - Lemon juice adds a tangy brightness to and helps prevent the peaches browning.
  • salt - Brings out all of the ingredient flavors and helps balance the sweetness.
  • vanilla extract - Adds a delicate aroma and depth of flavor to baked desserts.

How to make peach crisp

Use these step-by-step photos for reference when you make this peach crisp recipe. Feel free to skip down to the printable recipe below.

Step 1. Preheat oven or air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and coat bakeware with cooking spray. Slice peaches into ½-inch thick pieces and discard pits. Place in a mixing bowl and set aside.

Step 4. Transfer peaches to prepared bakeware. I love the 6.5-inch iron skillet for this recipe, but any baking dish will work. Sprinkle topping over the surface. Bake 20 minutes, or until sauce is bubbling and surface is golden brown. Rest peach crisp for 5 to 10 minutes.

Step 5. Serve peach crisp warm with vanilla ice cream.

Recipe tips

  • Choose ripe peaches with bright, peachy aroma for the best flavor and texture. You'll find tips for canned peaches or frozen peaches in the 'recipe variations' section.
  • Feel free to adjust the sugar amount more or less as needed, depending on the sweetness of the peaches.
  • When mixing the topping, use your hands to form it into larger or smaller crumbles as desired.
  • Reheat peach crisp uncovered in the oven or air fryer oven for a few minutes to restore crispness.

Recipe variations

  • If using frozen peaches, thaw completely and drain to remove excess moisture before baking.
  • When making peach crisp with canned peaches, drain excess liquid before using.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg or ginger for extra warmth and depth of flavor.
  • Add chopped nuts for added crunch and flavor.
