Kaleb John Gendron, age 20, passed away peacefully on October 25, in his home surrounded by family, after a seventeen month battle with Ewing Sarcoma.
Kaleb was born on January 9, 2003 to John and Kristen (Stephenson) Gendron in Burlington WI. He, along with his two brothers, Jared and Kyle, grew up in Silver Lake, where he attended Riverview School. Kaleb graduated from Wilmot High School in 2021. He excelled in math, science, and engineering classes, was a member of the National Honor Society, and played football, basketball, and baseball. Throughout high school and college, he worked as a landscaper at Vozel Landscaping. Kaleb earned an academic scholarship to attend Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa where he studied engineering and played baseball for the Duhawks.
Kaleb had many interests which reflected his curiosity and sparked his creativity. From an early age he loved solving puzzles, designing, and building things. He loved being active outdoors including swimming, kayaking, biking, and boating with friends. His love of learning extended to current events, history, and how things in the world worked. Throughout his athletic career, Kaleb’s competitive drive helped his teams to excel while developing lifelong friendships.
Kaleb leaves behind his dad, John, his mom, Kristen, his brothers Jared (Ahnna Schini) and Kyle (Tayler Whipple). Also, his Bumpa & GG, Dave and Jan Stephenson, his Uncle Jon (Charlotte) Stephenson, Uncle Jeff (Karen) Gendron, Aunt Ann (Jim) Dagenhardt, and his cousins Vivian, Jacob, Jason, Lindsay, Eric, Emily, Alex, and countless friends and teammates. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Nadine Gendron, and our family dog Reeses.
Family and friends were inspired by his hard work, determination, creativity, and toughness. These traits were even demonstrated during his unfair battle with cancer. Throughout his chemo treatments, surgery recovery, and fight, he remained optimistic and driven to beat the cancer. Even in his final weeks, he showed his humor and quick witted comments and stories. Kaleb will leave a lasting impact on those that knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. The family wants to keep Kaleb’s name and memory alive and will make donations in his name through an annual Kaleb Gendron Memorial Scholarship and contributions to various charitable organizations.
