  • Asked by John from St. Augustine, Fl.

    10/01/2011

    Q

Amount of 2,4-D per gallon of water in hand sprayer?

    A

It depends on how much you are trying to treat. One pint of 2,4 D will treat 1/4 acre of land and should be applied in at least 4 gallons of water over 1/4 acre. This works out to be about 3 ounces per 1000 square feet. It really doesn't matter how much water you use, but the 3 ounces has to be applied over the 1000 square feet.

  • Asked by Frank from Jacksonville, Fl. 32244

    05/21/2014

    Q

Will Hi-Yield 2,4d kill crabgrass or nutsedge?

    A

Hi Yield 2, 4-D is not labeled to kill/control nutsedge or crabgrass as it is primarily used for more common broad leaf weed control. Due to nutsedge being a difficult weed to control, often you need a very specific product just for the nutsedge in the yard and will need to use something like Sedgehammer. If you have warm season grasses (with the exception of St Augustine grass) Dismiss South will control broadleaf weeds, crabgrass and nutsedge. If you would like to give us the type of lawn you have, how much area you are looking to treat, and if there are any other weeds you are looking to target in particular, we can try to find a product best suited to your specific needs.
